North Middlesex University Hospital merges into Royal Free London group

NCL Wide

North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust (NMUH) merged into the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust (RFL) group on 1 January 2025. NMUH has been a clinical partner with the RFL group since 2017 and in a formal partnership since 2021. The new single trust will bring together the best of both organisations.

While there will be no significant changes for patients – or the majority of staff – from day one, this marks the beginning of a new chapter for the RFL, enabling the trust to go further and faster in improving services for patients, delivering more opportunities for staff and enabling better, fairer health for local communities.

Clinicians from across the RFL sites have used the shared clinical strategy to identify the first four services that will be prioritised for early integration. These are areas where, as a group, the trust will be able to accelerate the delivery of the benefits for patients, staff and local communities. They are: oncology; colorectal surgery; surgical hubs; and research.

To mark the merger, a new animation which explains the RFL group model, their vision for the future, and the newest addition to the RFL group, has been released. Watch the video
