Medicines Supply Notification: Fixapost®, preservative-free eye drops

NCL Wide

The Department of Health and Social Care has issued a Medicine Supply Notification (MSN/2025/069) for latanoprost 50micrograms/ml / timolol 5mg/ml (Fixapost®) preservative-free eye drops (0.2ml unit dose).

This will be out of stock until early February 2026. A Serious Shortage Protocol, SSP086 is in place.

Actions for prescribers

  • Do not initiate Fixapost® to new patients.
  • Review currently affected patients and, where supply is insufficient, consider switching to Vizilatan Duo® preservative-free eye drops or prescribe separate preservative-free latanoprost and timolol preparations.
  • Where switching is considered appropriate, ensure patient is appropriately counselled on correct device use, dosing, and sequential administration.
  • Consider patients treatment history, including hypersensitivity or adverse reactions to topical eye preparations when switching.

ScriptSwitch® messages have been enabled to provide information on this shortage to support primary care. Further information is available in the notification.
