Learn how GP direct-access imaging pathways can support cancer diagnosis

NCL Wide

NHS West and North London ICB is hosting a one-hour webinar on Friday 8 May on GP direct access imaging pathways.

The webinar will outline how GPs can use diagnostic routes, including direct access routes, to diagnose patients with symptoms of concern who do not fully meet NICE NG12 guidelines for suspected cancer recognition and referral in primary care. It will explore when to use these options in relation to other pathways, such as non-specific symptom pathways. These diagnostic routes will support earlier diagnosis and timely investigation of symptoms, providing reassurance or further diagnostics as needed.

The session will cover the new enhanced GP direct access imaging pathways available for CT chest, CT abdomen/pelvis and ultrasound abdomen/pelvis.

These pathways have been developed in line with updated national guidance to support earlier and faster diagnosis for patients presenting with possible cancer symptoms, particularly where there is clinical concern, but standard referral criteria are not fully met.

Join the webinar for an overview of the pathways, guidance on best clinical practice and take part in a live Q&A.
