Haringey joins single point of access process for adult community mental health teams

Haringey

Haringey is the third borough in NCL to adopt the single point of access (SPA) for adult community mental health teams.

This marks the start of a phased rollout to improve how adults and older adults' access mental health care across the region.

As of Monday 27 October, GPs in Haringey should use the EMIS single referral form to make non-urgent direct referrals into adult community mental health services. This process aims to streamline referrals, reduce delays, and improve outcomes for service users.

With thousands of referrals made each month, primarily by GPs, this system simplifies access by introducing a consistent, coordinated route into care. It supports a 'no wrong door' approach, meaning individuals will be guided to the right support, even if the referral isn’t a perfect match.

Where to find the form

  • NCL Global Documents folder > Mental Health folder> Single Point of Access to Adult Mental Health Service – NLFT

Any queries about the form can be sent to the NCL IT and systems team.

This launch will help shape future phases of the rollout in Islington and Camden. Insights and feedback gathered during this first phase will ensure the model works for all boroughs.
