Beam digital rehabilitation service available for patients

NCL Wide

Beam digital rehabilitation programme is available for patients with cardio-kidney-metabolic disease in North Central London.

People diagnosed with kidney disease and closely-related cardio-kidney-metabolic (CKM) conditions such as heart failure and diabetes - can now benefit from an innovative new digital health programme aimed at increasing their levels of physical activity and improving diet and lifestyle, commissioned by NCL ICS.

Patients who live in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington can now gain free access to a specialist app called Kidney Beam, which provides online,  physiotherapist-led exercise sessions, education classes, and dietary advice specifically for people living with kidney, cardiovascular, and metabolic conditions.

The intervention has been clinically proven via a randomised clinical trial published in the Lancet Digital Health, to improve health-related quality of life, physical function, mental health and self-care among people with chronic kidney disease and co-morbid CKM disease.

We are encouraging primary care staff in this area to signpost patients they think will benefit from taking part in the online exercise & education classes to register for the service for free.

Printed and digital patient engagement materials will be distributed to practices in the coming weeks to assist with signposting.
