From 1 January 2022, men currently attending a hospital outpatient clinic for prostate hormone injections every three or six months will be advised that their next injection will be administered at a local GP practice, usually by the practice nurse. This change will be gradual and phased in over the next 6-9 months.

The training session is aimed at practice clinicians who will be giving these hormone injections and will cover:

  • an introduction to hormone treatment in prostate cancer
  • possible side effects
  • monitoring
  • red flags
  • useful contacts
  • signposting information.

Speakers include:

  • Anne Somerville, Prostate Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist, Royal Free London
  • Sandra Dyer, Primary Care Lead Nurse, Transforming Cancer Services Team, Healthy London Partnership
