Reflective Reading Club for NMC Revalidation

The Reflective Reading Club (RRC) is for nurses and midwives employed throughout North Central London. NMC revalidation requires that each nurse/midwife must complete 35 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) annually, 20 hours being ‘participatory learning’.

The club constitutes 3 hours of CPD time - 1.5 hours of participatory learning in a Teams session and 1.5 hours of individual learning with the preparatory reading and note-taking. Attendees can complete a maximum of 2 sessions = 6 hours CPD in total.

Two weeks before the session, an article will be emailed to all participants, along with an accompanying checklist of questions. The checklist will encourage staff to consider key points within the article and to make notes before they arrive at the session. Please note, participants must have read the article in advance to attend.

During the session, there is a short introduction about reflective reading, followed by a longer, participatory discussion. The discussion will relate the article to the NMC guidance, ‘learning through engagement and communicating with others.’

First session scheduled for Wednesday 26 January 2022, 2–3.30 pm.
