NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme: Update on the Patient SMS Self-Registration Template

Join Camden Health and Wellbeing for this webinar on Tuesday 10 March at 12.30pm where the new NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (NDPP) patient SMS self-registration template, now embedded in AccuRx, will be introduced.

Key learnings

  • GPs can send a pre-written text message directly to eligible patients, inviting them to self-refer to the NDPP.
  • Only three details are needed: HbA1c result, NHS number, and blood test date.
  • Each message includes an attachment with instructions and further information about the NDPP.
  • The template is searchable in AccuRx under NCL: Diabetes Prevention Programme Self-Referral.

This method can be quicker than completing a full referral form and streamlines communication to improve accessibility and uptake. This simple tool is designed to make the referral process faster, easier, and more accessible for both practices and patients.

The purpose of this webinar is to help explain how this new process for referring patients onto the NDPP works to further boost both referral numbers and uptake onto the programme.

Attendees can sign up to the webinar via the Eventbrite page, or join the link to the MS teams meeting.

More info can be found on the new webpage for NCL health professionals.
