Cuckooing: A safeguarding issue

Cuckooing is when criminals target the homes of vulnerable adults so they can use the property for drug-dealing and other criminal activities. It takes the name from cuckoos who take over the nests of other birds. Gangs move in to the properties with the risk of domestic abuse, sexual exploitation and violence, and children as well as adults are used as drug runners. Sadly, during the last year cuckooing has increased and more vulnerable adults and children are being targeted.

You are invited to a lunch and learn session hosted by Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with the Metropolitan Police. It will cover:

  • Identification
  • Risk factors
  • Indicators
  • Responding.
