Safeguarding Adults (morning)
9am, Thursday 17 November 2016
The Adult Safeguarding training will cover the following:
• Care act update
• Preventing abuse
• Barriers to reporting (patients and GPs)
• Information sharing
• Safeguarding in Camden – statistics, contacts and process
This session will be interactive, and we will use case studies to aid learning and reflection.
Case studies will aim to increase awareness and competence in managing safeguarding and protecting adults at risk in four key areas :
• Domestic Abuse
• Financial Abuse
• Carer Stress
• Neglect
There will also be a learning and reflection activity to support GPs in understanding their role in safeguarding adults at risk and help them to address the challenges and questions they have in relation to safeguarding.

Maternity session (afternoon)
Improving morbidity and mortality for women and babies
2pm, Thursday 17 November 2016
The session will include the following topics:
- Overview of maternity review and discussion of likely changes in working and the future role of the gp in maternity care and communication between gp and maternity services,
- Perinatal mental health- discussing a recent review of perinatal mental health services and plans for the future,
- Introducing the GAP project- reducing stillbirth rates through improved detection of fetal growth restriction,
- Summary of recent confidential enquiry into maternal deaths and perinatal deaths and sharing learning after serious incidents,
- Explanation of the local maternity dashboard,
- Latest advice from public health related to maternity care including rubella screening.
The learning will combine talks on current practice with small group work, with the opportunity to discuss your opinions about future service change.
Practice Nurses are welcome to attend.
