BTS Clinical Statement on Community Acquired Pneumonia and Aspiration Pneumonia

In this joint British Thoracic Society (BTS)/NHS England webinar, Dr Julian Legg, lead author of the BTS Clinical Statement on Community Acquired Pneumonia in people with Learning Disability, and Professor John Simpson, lead author of the BTS Clinical Statement on Aspiration Pneumonia, will give an overview of the new guidance launching on 23 February in Thorax and on the BTS website here.

The session will detail the clinical practice points of each Pneumonia Statement, which offer practical ways to address prevention, diagnosis and management.

The webinar will be chaired by Dr Martin Allen, National Clinical Director for Respiratory, NHS England. The session will also feature contributions from a patient with lived experience of pneumonia and a case study from Consultant Respiratory Physician, Dr Ingrid Du Rand, on how her team reduced aspiration pneumonia morbidity and mortality rates in care homes.

This webinar is suitable for a broad range of members of the multi-disciplinary respiratory team, including those from community physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, dietetics, specialist nurses, primary care, as well as other related healthcare professionals. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the session.
