Pulmonary rehabilitation is a programme designed to help people with long term lung conditions manage their symptoms, improve their fitness and build confidence in their daily lives.
In this video, members of the Royal Free London community respiratory service in Enfield explain what pulmonary rehabilitation involves, the benefits it can provide, and how it supports people living with conditions such as COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis and interstitial lung disease.
Pulmonary rehabilitation combines exercise and education to help people:
- manage breathlessness
- improve their ability to carry out everyday activities
- build confidence and improve wellbeing
- reduce the risk of chest infections
- stay active and independent.
