RFL update: Changes to urgent suspected cancer for urology referrals at NMUH

NCL Wide

North Middlesex University Hospital (NMUH) has been reviewing and updating its urgent suspected cancer services within the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS) to align with NHS England requirements ahead of October 2026.

The names of the prostate and haematuria services at NMUH have been changed on e-RS to better indicate the type of first appointment.

  • 2ww Rapid Access Urology - Haematuria Virtual Triage Assessment Clinic - North Middlesex UHT-RAP
  • 2ww Rapid Access Urology – Prostate Virtual Triage Assessment Clinic - North Middlesex UHT-RAP

For both services, referrers can now directly book patients into a triage slot.

As these are virtual clinical triage appointments, patients do not need to attend the hospital or be available at the time of the booked slot. Therefore, please book patients into the next available triage appointment. Following clinical review, the patient will be contacted directly with details of the next steps in their pathway.

In the coming weeks, the 2WW Rapid Access Urology – General service will be removed and instead will be divided into three new services for suspected testicular, renal and penile cancers. Please ensure you select the correct service when referring in to prevent delays.
