Oesophageal cancer pilot goes live in Haringey

NCL Wide

The Community Pharmacy Assessment for Barrett’s Oesophagus and Reflux Symptoms (COMPASS) pilot has launched in Haringey and will soon expand to Islington and Barnet. The 12-month pilot is led by NCL Cancer Alliance in collaboration with Cyted Health, Boots, community pharmacies, secondary care, and Barnet, Haringey and Islington GP Federations.

The aim is to improve early diagnosis of oesophageal cancer by offering capsule sponge tests to patients identified in pharmacy and community settings.

GP Federations will upload results and letters to EMIS, notifying practices. Dedicated federation GPs will manage all necessary onward referrals to secondary care.
