A medicines supply notification has been released for nifedipine 10mg, 20mg, 30mg and 60mg modified-release tablets, which are experiencing supply issues (MSN/2026/033) .

The anticipated re-supply dates vary depending on product, possibly into November 2026.

Adanif® XL 30mg and 60mg tablets have been discontinued.

Actions for prescribers

• Prescribers should not initiate new patients on affected preparations until the supply issues have resolved.
• Ensure patients are switched to a preparation that has the same dosing frequency e.g. patients on a once daily preparation should be switched to an alternative once daily product. Further information available via the SPS Medicines Shortage Tool (registration and log in required) including details of the recommended alternative products for each of the short supply and discontinued products.
• When switching between brands of nifedipine or to an alternative calcium channel blocker, patients may require closer monitoring initially to ensure blood pressure, angina or other symptoms remain controlled, and they should be advised to report any adverse effects.
