Guidance available to support urgent appointment slot mapping

NCL Wide

A new guide on slot mapping is available to help GP practices configure appointment slot mapping to meet the 2026-27 contract requirement that all clinically urgent patients are managed on the same day.

The guide explains how to:

  • map urgent activity to the correct General Consultation Acute category in EMIS
  • apply embargo settings to prevent advance booking of urgent slots
  • use GP Appointment Data to monitor performance against the 90% same-day target.

To support this, two ready-to-import EMIS Web searches are also available: one to identify urgent slots booked in advance, and one to track your same-day performance over time.

For questions about the guide or to request the EMIS searches, contact Phoebe Alexander, Senior Manager, Digital Transformation & Services, Islington GP Federation

Practices seeking hands-on support with digital access may also benefit from the NCL General Practice Change Management Support Programme.
