Extended cervical screening intervals for HPV self-sampling

NCL Wide

The cervical screening recall interval for individuals aged 25-49 who test negative following an HPV self-sample test, has been extended from 3 to 5 years.

This means that the HPV self-sampling recall intervals for all ages, will now be in line with the routine Cervical Screening Programme.

The patient information for HPV self-sampling will be updated as well as the clinical system (EMIS) tools and professional guidance to reflect this change.
