Barnet Council adult social care team is no longer accepting professional referrals for care technology (telecare) only.

Patients can instead be signposted to a number of services to source their own assistive technology directly. These include the council's commissioned provider Medequip Connect, where a direct offer of a digital button and box alarm starts from £4.71 per week. 

The council has also introduced a charge for providing assistive technology/telecare services of £5 per week. Residents wishing to receive assistive technology via the council will need to contact social care directly. At the earliest opportunity they should be made aware of the £5 weekly charge and possible waiting times for an assessment.

Direct purchase will be a quicker, more direct route at equivalent cost for most residents.
