The ICB has received correspondence highlighting the importance of early recognition of type 1 diabetes in children and young people following the death of Lyla Story from undiagnosed type 1 diabetes.
 
Practices may wish to note the recent update to the Care Quality Commission's GP Mythbuster 1: Emergency care in general practice, which includes guidance on emergency equipment, including blood glucose meters, test strips and lancets. Practices may also find the Diabetes UK 4 Ts campaign helpful in raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of type 1 diabetes.
