Beam digital rehab service available for patients with kidney disease

NCL Wide

Beam digital rehabilitation programme is available for patients with cardio-kidney-metabolic disease in noth central London.

People diagnosed with kidney disease and who may also live with closely-related cardio-kidney-metabolic (CKM) conditions such as heart failure and diabetes - can benefit from an innovative new digital health programme aimed at increasing their levels of physical activity and improving diet and lifestyle, commissioned by NCL ICS.

Patients who live in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington can gain free access to a specialist app called Kidney Beam, which provides online, physiotherapist-led exercise sessions, education classes, and dietary advice specifically for people living with kidney, cardiovascular, and metabolic conditions.

The intervention has been clinically proven via a randomised clinical trial published in the Lancet Digital Health, to improve health-related quality of life, physical function, mental health and self-care among people with chronic kidney disease and co-morbid CKM disease.

Primary care staff in NCL are encouraged to signpost patients they think would benefit from taking part in the online exercise and education classes to register for the service free of charge.

Printed and digital patient engagement materials can be found in the Downloads section below and will be distributed to practices in the coming weeks to assist with signposting.

This item was updated on Tuesday 5 May 2026 to include printed patient engagement materials.
