Alcohol Identification and Brief Advice (IBA) training gives social workers and other frontline practitioners the skills and confidence to identify higher-risk drinking, have supportive conversations about alcohol, and signpost people to appropriate support.

Evidence shows that even brief advice can help people reduce their alcohol consumption and improve health and wellbeing outcomes. By incorporating IBA into routine practice, practitioners can help reduce alcohol-related harm, support better outcomes for residents, and make every contact count.

This training is suitable for receptionists, care navigators, healthcare assistants (HCAs), social prescribers, care coordinators and other patient-facing practice staff, as well as local authority and voluntary sector frontline workers.
