Semen Analysis: UCLH

Camden

Aims to assess a man's sperm and semen to identify factors that may be influencing fertility.

Reasons to request a test include:

  • investigate difficulties conceiving
  • determine fertility treatment suitability
  • confirm success of procedure (e.g. vasectomy)
  • assess effects of other procedures on fertility (e.g. post-chemotherapy, surgery)

Semen analysis requests must now be made via e-referrals. We will no longer book semen analysis appointments through direct requests from patients or GP surgeries to uclh.fertilitylab@nhs.net.

Appointments are available between 9am-3.45pm Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, and Wednesday and Thursday AM. Patients must have an appointment to be seen and must have between 2-7 days of sexual abstinence. Our current wait for appointments is approximately 10-12 weeks. We are working our way through our waiting lists as quickly and safely as possible.

Due to Covid, we require patients to bring their samples with them to their appointment. Instructions and sterile specimen pots are sent to the patient around a month before their appointment.

For specific queries please do continue to use the email address above.
