Camden Neurology and Stroke Service (CNSS)

Camden

A team of clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech therapists and a neuro-navigator provides specialist rehabilitation in community settings, including a range of assessments and treatments in groups and for individuals.

When referring please give comprehensive information about 'a patient's:

  • diagnosis
  • impairment (please be as specific as possible including any recent change in impairment)
  • function (please be as specific as possible including any recent change in function)
  • aim of referral/treatment
  • care needs.

The referral will be screened to ensure they are seen by the appropriate member(s) of the team. 


Eligibility criteria

Inclusions

Active or focal neurological impairment that would benefit from a specialist neurological approach to rehabilitation

Conditions we cover include:

  • stroke
  • parkinson’s disease 
  • multiple sclerosis 
  • traumatic brain injury
  • anoxic brain injury
  • spinal cord injuries
  • neuro-muscular disease
  • motor neurone disease

Exclusions

  • Where the main issue impacting on function at this time is NOT neurological should be referred to the integrated primary care team for specialist generic rehabilitation. For example, a patient with an old stroke who has been self-managing but has now broken a hip should be referred to the Integrated Primary Care Team.
  • Patients with equipment or social care needs only should be referred to Camden Adult Social Care.
  • Patient with musculoskeletal injuries should be referred to Camden MSK.
