From Friday 13 January 2023, the National Adult ADHD & ASD Outpatient Clinic and the National Adult ADHD & ASD Psychology Service (NAAAPS) at South London and Maudsley (SLAM) will temporarily close to new national referrals. This temporary closure is for an initial period of six months and will allow SLAM to reduce significant waiting lists for these services.

All accepted referrals past Friday 13 January 2023 will be honoured for assessment and/or treatment, including those currently on the waiting list.

SLAM will remain open to new referrals requesting medical reviews and follow-ups for patients with an established diagnosis of a genetic disorder associated with an established behavioural phenotype (e.g. 22q11 deletion syndrome).

In response to this temporary closure of the SLAM services, NCL ICB is developing a new offer to ensure that GPs will be able to refer to an alternative provider as appropriate. This is particularly relevant to primary care colleagues in Barnet, Enfield and Haringey, where there is currently no locally commissioned autism service available for residents.

Further information will be shared shortly, however it is anticipated that the alternative pathway will be in by Friday 13 January 2023.
