Moorfields Eye Hospital update: Allergic conjunctivitis advice

NCL Wide

Moorfields Eye Hospital is experiencing a significant increase in patients with allergic conjunctivitis being sent to their emergency department. Most of these cases are not same-day emergencies and can be managed in primary care. More severe or unresponsive cases may be referred to the external disease clinic.

Please review the allergic conjunctivitis leaflet for more information. The first line topical medication is Ketotifen, which can be prescribed in addition to eye baths and lubricants.

For further information, contact Gordon Hay, Clinical Director, A&E/Urgent Care/Comprehensive Ophthalmology.
