NCL will implement lowering of FIT threshold in bowel cancer screening from June

NCL Wide

The UK National Screening Committee recommended that the threshold for bowel cancer screening should be as low as possible. A lower threshold will mean more cancers are diagnosed earlier. The Bowel Cancer Screening Programme in England is planning to lower the fecal immunochemical test (FIT) threshold from 120ug/gm to 80ug/gm. Once fully rolled out, around 1,000 additional colorectal cancers and 7,000 high risk adenomas will be prevented each year.

NCL is an early adopter and will make the change from 120ug/gm to 80ug/gm on Monday 30 June. Participant information has been updated but the results information you or participants receive will remain unchanged.
