Heart failure one-stop clinic reopens at Royal Free

Camden

The Heart Failure One-Stop Clinic at the Royal Free Hospital has reopened to referrals from Camden GPs.

The clinic was temporarily paused due to a high number of referrals not meeting the criteria of NTproBNP test with a level above 2,000.

GPs should submit new suspected heart failure referrals on e-RS via the heart failure one-stop triaging clinic. Referrals will be reviewed by a consultant cardiologist. Direct access bookings for patients are no longer available.

The eligibility criteria for a referral are:

  • NT-proBNP test with a level above 2,000.
  • New possible heart failure.

The following are excluded:

  • Patients already under the care of the Royal Free London cardiology service.
  • No new NT-proBNP test.
  • No suspected heart failure diagnosis.

Patients who meet the eligibility criteria will be seen within two weeks. Those who do not meet the criteria will be booked into the most appropriate cardiology clinic.

Urgent referrals for patients with known heart failure should be submitted in the usual way.
